A Call to Recruit and "RESCUE"

This statement from the Stake to our Bishop and Ward Leaders:

Please encourage youth to attend this unique conference, Martin's Cove is the place they should be this summer.  Please encourage the youth to see, find, recruit and "RESCUE" other youth in your ward that are less likely to attend.

Sister Susan Kidd had a wonderful idea.  This coming Sunday, February 3rd, is Fast Sunday.  Let's fast as a Young Women's Group for those that we could rescue, those that maybe have not considered going to Martin's Cove, those that maybe aren't sure they want to go.  Let's put our faith and prayers together and seek our Heavenly Father's help, He knows how important it is to have every 14-18 year old YW attend this Youth Conference, and He will guide us in how to rescue and bless those that need to be rescued.
These scriptures testify of the power of fasting and prayer:
Alma 6:6
"Nevertheless the children of God were commanded that they should gather themselves together oft, and join in fasting and mighty prayer in behalf of the welfare of the souls of those who knew not God."
Moroni 6:5
"And the church (the YW) did meet together oft, to fast and to pray, and to speak one with another concerning the welfare of their (all YW's) souls."

We ask that you join the Presidency in a special fast, a way you can recruit and help us in  reaching out to rescue those that need to attend this special youth conference and trek.

Martin's Cove

Martin's Cove Trek - June 13-15, 2013

"Find the Pioneer Within by Walking in Holy Places"

"It is good to look to the past to gain appreciation for the present and perspective for the future.  It is good to look upon the virtues of those who have gone before to gain strength for what lies ahead."
President Gordon B. Hinckley

You will be following a portion of the same trail that the Willie and Martin Hancart Companies of 1856 followed.  You will walk the same trail that some of your ancestors walked.  This section of the trail is now known as the Martin's Cove area.  You will be walking on SACRED ground; ground that has been dedicated by President Gordon B. Hinkley.  The miracles you watched in "17 Miracles" are about the people in these handcart companies.  As you walk this sacred ground, we hope that each of you will feel the sacredness and holiness of the ground that you walk, that your testimony and knowledge of the living God will increase, and that insignificant and unimportant things in your life will melt away.

You need to research and find an ancestor whose name you can use while on the Trek.  You also need to have and be familar with their history, it will be part of your Martin Cove Journal.  We will help you find a name if you haven't been able to find one.  On February 12th, during our Joint Activity, we will have Brother and Sister Butterworth there to help in your research.  The stake also has names of pioneers in the Willie and Martin companies that you can use.
This will be a life changing experience and we ask that you make it a matter of prayer, pray and ask if you should attend this youth conference, you will recieve an answer, act on that prompting.
