January Activities

Young Women - Beginning January 6th, 2013, Sacrament Meeting will begin at 11:00 am, YW will begin at 1:00 pm.

Come to Young Women's be take part in our new Learning and Teaching:  Come Follow Me.  This new teaching method is now being used Church Wide.

Young Women 14-18 are invited to the New Year's Eve party on Monday evening, December 31st.  The dance is from 9:00 pm to 12:30 am.  It will be at the Ammon North Stake on 17th Street.

Humanitarian Dolls - December 11th

       Humanitarian Dolls

Come and help make some humanitarian dolls to send to different places in the world, places where little girls don't have any kind of doll. 
This will be a great service for us to do and one that will bring smiles and joy to some sweet little daughters of our Heavenly Father!

Haven Shelter

Young Women for our Good Works project we picked to collect new and used clothing, shoes, coats, anything that could benefit the Haven Shelter.  The month is almost over and we need to bring all the items to Mutual tomorrow or to the Trunk or Treat Dinner on Wednesday.  We need to take what has been collected to  the Shelter on Thursday, November 1st.
The Shelter will love and appreciate any and all that we can spare for the women and children that live there.

Missionary Month

 Missionary Month - November

We are starting our Missionary Month in November - 7pm each week.
Here is the schedule for the month:

November 13th - Mission Training Center - Pictures and Meeting with your mission leaders
November 20th - P-Day   Fun, Games, and Food
November 27th - Dinner and Discussion

Plan now to be a diligent missionary and be committed to come each week and enjoy your mini-mission!

Volleyball

There will be NO volleyball on October 31st!
It's Halloween, so remember to go to Trunk or Treat party at the church at 5:30 pm
There will be dinner right after Trunk or Treat and it's for the whole family.

There will be Volleyball on November 7th from 5-6 pm
Shayla Allen has arranged for a Line Dancing Instructor to come right after volleyball,
so from 6-7 you can learn line dancing.  It will be a really fun night!!

Young Women/Young Men Joint Activity

Meet at the church at 5:45 pm on Tuesday.  If you have a rake, please bring it, wear gloves and dress for the weather as we will be outside!  This is an opportunity to do service for some special single sisters in our ward.  We will be raking leaves and helping them get their yards ready for winter.  Plan on hot chocolate and donuts afterwards at the church.

These two weeks will be switched, Sister Gifford had to be out of town this Sunday. 

Did you YW hear in General Conference that beginning in January 2013 the whole church will be starting this new method of teaching.  Thanks for your input each week, I'm sure your fedback helped the church in making that decision.

Night of Excellence

Young Women's Night of Excellence

 October 28th, 2012 at 7:00 pm in the Relief Society Room

Look through your Personal Progress Book and find a project that you could do for Night of Excellence.  If you set a goal now to do a 10 hour project you will have plenty of time to complete your goal and have something to bring to share. 
Pick something in the next few days, make a plan, write it down, and then do it! 
It will exciting to see what you bring, you are each so unique, with some many talents, and we can't wait to see your finished project!

Sunday Song Practice, YW Lesson & Stake Fireside

Sunday, September 16th
This is going to be a busy Sunday!
Please be at the church house at 8:30 am for Song Practice.  We are singing in sacrament meeting with the young men, "As Sisters in Zion/We Will Bring the World His Truth".  Sister Hanny is going to bring muffins for all those that show up early!   We really need your voice, please come and sing with us.

The lesson this Sunday is:  "How do I guard my virtue?"
If you could, please read Sister Ann Dibb's talk, "Be of Good Courage" and come ready to talk about how we can guard our virtue in today's world.

Sunday evening at 7pm at the Stake Center, we have a YM/YW Stake Fireside.  Plan now to attend, we will be happy to pick you up if you need a ride.  We would like you to come and hear the great fireside the Stake has planned especially for you!

Progressive Dinner - September 11th

We will be having a progressive dinner beginning at 6:30 pm
Come hungry!  We will meet at the church for opening prayer,
then walk to Sister Graham's house.  Next, we will walk to
Sister Allen's house, then Sister Gifford's house and we will
end up at Sister Cook's house.
It's the end of summer celebration and a fun way to get to
know each other better.

it will be fun to find out who your going to make a necklace for.

If you have a favorite piece of scrapebook paper, bring it.  There

will be plenty of paper there if you don't have some. 

It tells you on the calendar, progressive dinner, but Sister Gifford could not be there tonight and we didn't want to have it without her, so we switched weeks!

Tonight we need to be at the church at 6:30pm to practice our song - we are singing on the 19th in sacrament meeting with the young men.  Our part, "As Sisters in Zion", is so fun and sounds cool!

Mutal, Sunday Lesson & Service Opportunity

Spoon Party, for Mutual.  Bring your favorite spoon, any size or type, and your scriptures!  It will be a fun night for sure.  Some see what it's all about!

We are going to have song practice at 6:30 pm.  We are singing in Sacrament Meeting on September 16th with the Young Men. We will be singing, "As Sister's in Zion".   We really need your help and your voice!

On  Sunday, September 9th, the Stake Music Chairman needs our help.  He is holding a Music Workshop for all the music people in the stake.  He is having 8 classes and needs a YW from our ward to be a hostess in each class, which means you would take the roll and if the instructor needs something from the library for from another class, you would go and get it for her/him.  You would be their helper for the class.  You would need to be there from 6:30 to 9:00 pm.  You would also get to sit in on the class,you could learn from the instuctor. Some of the classes are:  Conducting Basics; Rehearsal Strategies; The Mechanics of Good Conducting; Primary Music & etc.  Our YW could use some more music conductors!! You would receive service points for helping that evening.  If you would be interested, please call or text one of the presidency.  Thanks so much!


***The lessons for YW in September is about Commandments.  At Bishop's Youth Council on Sunday, the youth & adult leaders decided that the youth should be choosing the lessons, the ones that best apply to them.  Each week you will choose the lesson you feel would meet your needs.  That is the lesson we will teach the following Sunday.  Take a look at all the lessons for the month, so you will be familar with each of the topics. 
On September 2nd, the lessons will be, "How Can I Be In The World, But Not Of the World?"

Sunday YW's lesson - August 19th

Our lesson on Sunday will be "How Does the Priesthood Bless Me"
Please think about how the priesthood has blessed you or a family member and come ready to share with the class.
Also think about this question, "Why is it important to marry a worthy priesthood holder?"
Water Olympics YM/YW Activity for August 21st!  Come ready to get wet, and to have some water fun before school gets started.  YW please wear a swimming suit under your capri's and shirt, because when your shirt get wet sometimes they are see-through!

Mutual, August 7th



Tomorrow, August 7th, meet at the church at 7pm.  We are going to the Idaho Falls Temple, where the sister missionaries are going to take us on a tour of the temple grounds and then we are going to watch a short movie at the visitor's center.  We want to take pictures of you in front of the beautiful water falls, so be sure to come!  We'll be showing the pictures at our Night of Excellence.  If you can, please wear nice dress, like a skirt or dress.  We'll have some refreshments afterwards.

Art - Photography - Arts & Craft

 Attention YW!  Those that would like to do a 10 hour project to put in the Blackfoot Eastern Idaho State Fair, here is the information you will need.  Sister Allen will take you and your project to Blackfoot and help you get it entered.  It will so fun!! 
Entries will be taken on Friday, Aug 24th from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Saturday, Aug 25th from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.  These dates are for photography, fine arts, arts and crafts.

Please follow these rules for Photography:
Amateur Division has no entry fee.  One mount may be entered by eacch exhibitor.  4X6 to 8X10 size pictures may be entered and may be mounted by any mounting device including phot corners if mounted securely.  Poster board is not an acceptable mount.  Several 4X6 pictures may be entered on one mount. Ribbons only will be given with no cash prizes.





Please follow these rules for Fine Arts:
Divisions V-V111 have a $2.00 entry fee
Division V - Grades 4-6
Divison V1 - Grades 7-8
Division V11 - Grades 9-10
Division V111 - Grades 11-12
Artwork done in classroom or workshop settings may be included.  All artwork must have been created in the last three years and never entered before in the Eastern Idaho State Fair.
Artwprl om upitj dovosopms ,au ise Velcro as the hanging device if the work is unframed and lighweight, otherwise a wire hanger anchored with crews mut be used.  No sawtooth hangers will be accepted.  If the hanger detaches from the artwork it will be removed from the display area.



Please follow these rules for Home Arts and Needlecraft:
Entry fee is $1.00 for the first 4 entries.
Only one article in a class will be accepted from any one person.
Every article entered must be entirely the work of the exhibitor except quilts.  Quilts made by 5 or less can entered under one name with credit given where appropriate.
Dollies or other articles of needlework should NOT be mounted on cardboard or other material.
Articles entered must be finished and completed
Pictures must be framed or mounted and suitable for hanging on pegboard.

I-HOP "Important Hour of Progress" Personal Progress Party.  We will have pancakes and buttermilk syrup!   We will meet tomorrow at 7:00 pm at Sister Cook's House.  She lives at 1800 Falcon Street.
Remember to  bring your personal progress books!!!
You have two days to work on some values to pass off, remember you need points to attend the Luau in August.  
Also, please try and decide what you would like what Value you would like to highlight for our Night of Excellence in November.
